The Queen of the Adjutants General

Jon shares this story of his service with the Adjutants General ("AGs"):

Other than when we enjoyed coming to Eric & Allison's home last year, the first time I saw Richmond was in 1969 when our plane from Indianapolis to Petersburg dipped a wing to make its approach to the Petersburg/Ft. Lee airport.
About five of us were the "advanced party" for a contingent from Ft. Harrison to participate in 'LOGEX' (logistical exercise) "69." The various schools of the different branches of the Army were sending certain faculty members and a current advanced class to participate.
The advanced class coming from Ft. Harrison had seemed somewhat lackadaisical, so we in the advanced party while at the officers club in the evenings came up with a plan to "energize" them. We had a bachelor with the group, and we talked him into trying to get the best looking go-go dancer at the club to agree to become: Miss AG LOGEX '69, in other words, our QUEEN.
He did this (and later married her.....it lasted several months).
We met the plane carrying the advanced class with our "Queen" behind a cutout of an AG Shield. It was a good start to improving the energy of this class.
Some nights later, at the officers club, the Advanced Class of the Ordinance Corps (flaming bomb insignia) decided they were going to steal our queen.
Being AGs (slogan: we may backspace occasionally, but we don't retreat), we allied ourselves with the Military Police advanced course, and warded off the threat to our queen (Military Police are BIG guys).
This whole exercise cost Barbara & me a toaster, or some such thing, as a wedding gift!
