Numerous members of the clan are celebrating this week, because Oregon has won the Rose Bowl for the first time in about 97 years. UO grads include Jon, Dean and Pat, Sam, Sandy, Mark, and Tina Sampson, and Brook Martin. I think that Eric Sampson also attended, Drew Sampson still attends, and Tina's daughter Colbe plans to attend, and Meghan Sampson, although she was educated elsewhere, is a fan. Eric's wife Nadia works for the UO, and of course Kelly's husband Curt Zimmerman is an employee of UO sports. They are bring up their daughter Nielen to be a fan.
During the early 1970s, when so many Oregon basketball and track stars were African Americans, the symbol of the black duck appeared. Milly and Vake posted a decal of his image on the door of their plumbing shop.
