"Don't lose / Your head / To gain a minute / You need your head / Your brains are in it / Burma-Shave"
On last week's road trip from Arizona through California and Oregon, back home to Washington, next to U S 99 in CA, I thought I saw one lone, left-over, faded, sagging vane of a Burma Shave sign. Once they were a novelty to look for on every road trip: a set of five small, low-placed signs in succession next to the roadway, printed in all capitals, white letters on a red ground, ending with a script sign, "Burma Shave."
