During my hunt for relatives for our reunion last summer, I completely dudded out when it came to finding any descendants of Aunt Sylvia and Uncle Buck. I knew that their only daughter Audrey had died in a car/ice accident when she was living in Sand Point, Idaho. Audrey had six children who would have been young adults at the time: Jon, Harold, Tom, Sylvia, Robert and Jackie Jennings. At best, I found a street address for Harold in a little town in Idaho, but my letter came back as "undeliverable." Now Susan Buckhart (Eli and Sofia, Eli Jr. Shirley, Susan) has come across a letter dated 1984 from Aunt Sylvia to Shirley that lists 10 great-grandchildren. They are:
Jon: Jesse and Jeremiah, living in the Yukon Territory of Canada
Harold: Thomas Fitzhugh and Jared.
Bob ("Robbie," when we were kids): Silas Merlin and Melissa
Tom: Two stepsons
Sylvia: No children
Jackie: Emily, Hannah Rose, Eli Joseph, and Waylon
It's interesting to see some names carried on to another generation. "Fitzhugh" is the family name of some of Uncle Buck's ancestors. "Robbie," Robert, could be names after Uncle Buck, who was Esmerald Robert Goodman. And Jackie has another Eli. Some of these names are distinctive enough that I might be able to contact these people by the time of our next reunion in three more years. I just wish the girls wouldn't give up their surnames upon marrying--that makes tracing folks so much more difficult!
