This is Arno and Eli in 1908 in San Francisco. The picture is a rare find! Shirley had only one picture of her father. After her dementia was somewhat developed, Milly tried to help out by removing all the pictures of Shirley's father from Pappy Eli's photo album to mail to Shirley, but kept no copies--and who knows if they were actually mailed? But look here! Jon Logan Sampson, now of Matthews, VA, had this photo, and gave it to me to add to the family website when we got together for a visit last weekend in Richmond, VA.
