David Eugene Sampson died on July 5, 2026. He was 86 years old. He had been immobilized by diabetic neuropathy, gout, prostate problems, and a cancer on his leg that was being treated with radiation, but there was no pointed cause of death. I talked to his wife Charlie on July 7, when I called David and she answered the phone. She said he had been watching Wimbledon on TV and got up to go to the bathroom. He felt unsteady so she stood next to him when he simply folded and expired. Besides Charlie, he was survived by his daughter Paula Sue, her son Daniel Morris, son Geoff, and his younger brothers Arn and Sam, but then--

One week later to the day Arnold Elias Sampson passed. He had been ill with throat cancer and had been undergoing radiation treatment to reduce the tumor to a size that it could be surgically excised. He was survived by son Eric (Wife Nadia, daughter Sofia), his daughter Kelly Zimmerman (husband Kurt and daughter Neely), and brother Sam.
