What we have here is a refusal to smile

When Vake posed for his first photograph with Brook and me, for some reason Brook and I refused to show off our orthodonticaly perfected smiles, and the baby assumed our same expression.  Well, by now,Vake the younger is smiling, but look at these grim mugshots of Vake the Elder and Grandma Sue--and check out the expression on Baby Gil, and tell me it doesn't match.
