The Diversions of Theta Chi

If you have ever used music books as old as those used in Florence, OR in the 1950s and 1960s, you have heard of a 1911 song called “The Sweetheart of Sigma Chi.” But what about the 1960s Diversions of Theta Chi?  Jon writes:
One Friday evening, finding ourselves with nothing better to do than hang around the (fraternity) house, two of the brothers and I decided to try something "different." We decided to call one or more women's living organizations (dorms), and get three dates for the evening. The plan was to pick up our dates, and go drink cheap wine in the Pioneer Cemetery on campus.
We had one problem with this plan, and that was the fact that one of the three of us was a "high-profile" athlete, and he didn't want to use his real name for this adventure. So, we all assumed fictitious names and started calling dorms.
Sure enough, there were three women willing to participate, and we picked them up and went to the cemetery (with our cheap wine & paper cups (?)).
I don't remember, exactly, the conversations which we had, but they must have been consistent with our "assumed" names. Beyond our athlete, we had the most visible "beatnik" in the house, Bob Martnick, and then me, just an ordinary guy.
At the end of one year of college, Bob had talked a female friend into hitchhiking to the east coast with him. (I think she turned back at the eastern Oregon border.) Later, in Germany, Bob helped me during a 1-week German language orientation course which I was required to take.
Our athlete, Dave Edstrom, went on to teach at the Air Force Academy.
Since he was close to a "world class" athlete, I'm assuming he served commissioned (or enlisted) time at the academy, and then may have stayed on as a faculty member. He was a decathlon member.
So wasn’t that red wine a breach of his athletic training regimen? “It would have been either (or both): carbohydrate loading, or.....an out-of-body experience!! :-)
