Football Civil Wars

Eric and Brook (with Darwin Sukut)
The Infamous Bet that Eric Lost (and paid up)
Brook remembers the "Civil War" Football between his grandparents, Vake and Milly, and writes: "For the 10th straight year, Navy beat Army in football. When I was in college at the U of O, I would go to Florence every year and watch the game with Grandpa (It was the only game he didn't fall asleep through!). But in those days, Navy never won, and Grandma would take the $1 bet that they often made. Grandma never watched the game, but when we reported that Army won she would typically say 'Of course, they always do!' And she usually would sneak a peek when they sang their fight song at the end of the game. One year I asked Grandpa who he thought would win before the game started, and he resigned himself 'Probably Army, they usually do.' "
Brook remembers Vake and Milly making a one-dollar bet.  I recall the bet being a bottle of Chanel Number 5 perfume for her against a bottle of Scotch for him.  Since Army always won, and I never saw a bottle of Chanel Number 5 at their house, either they went for the $1.00 option instead, or somebody never paid up!

  1. What I can't figure out is why Eric is wearing a WSU shirt in that photo?
